Product obtained from dehusked, broken and segregated maize grain. Corn porridge is made into gruels that are administered to those suffering from diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, bile ducts, kidneys and convalescents. Corn grits is an excellent source of carbohydrates in the form of starch and fiber; while remaining an easily digestible dish.
Corn grits can be prepared in many ways, for example, it is boiled into a sticky mass, spread on a baking sheet and allowed to solidify, then cut and baked or fried. It can be combined with butter, vegetables, cold cuts or cheese and served as an addition to other dishes. On the other hand, when cooking in loose form, water is added in a ratio of 1: 1. The porridge is cooked over low heat, slowly, stirring occasionally so that it does not burn.
