Karpatka is a traditional Polish cake. Based on records from a script for Polish philology students, it can be assumed that its origins date back to 1972. The cake’s name comes from the Carpathian mountain range, due to its wavy top layer.
Modern karpatka most often consists of two layers of pastry with a generous amount of cream in between.
